Yesterday I went to put gas in our van and was rather disappointed at what I found. The prices at the gas pumps have not come down as quickly as had I expected. As a matter of fact, I'm not really sure they've come down at all (maybe they have???).
Anyway, what came to mind as the tank reached $50 and kept going was the memory of price jumps at the pump the day immediately following the news of barrel prices going up. What I couldn't figure then was why the tank prices went up so quickly when the gas was already paid for at lower price. I realize there is probably a very valid reason for it but I couldn't help but wonder.
The question that came to mind was why the same phenomena hasn't taken place at the pumps now that barrel prices have been dropping for a couple of weeks. It seems the impact works only one, that is up.
There may be nothing to this observation and by no means would I ever desire to own and operate a gas station, but the truth is, I just don't like the feeling that I'm being taken advantage of.
